# SONGS v1

The base layer of SONGS are:

1. Allow artists to verify their profile by linking their Spotify and Apple Music accounts if they have previously released music.
2. Create an encapsulated version of the song, which can later be distributed to major streaming services for free.
3. Receive 10,000 [SongShares](/songshares/what-is-a-songshare.md) (§) for each uploaded song, where each SongShare represents 0.01% of the future benefits generated by that song.
4. Facilitate the transfer or sale of those SongShares in a fully sovereign manner.
5. Allow fans to buy the SongShares at the price proposed by the artists and receive the benefits generated by that song.

This "Getting Started" guide will take you through the process of creating a [Wrapped Song (WSong)](/wrapped-songs/what-is-a-song.md), validating your [artist profile](/artist-verification/artist-verification-process.md), and [distributing your songs](/music-distribution/how-to-distribute-your-music.md).
